As the weather gets hot, sometimes its just the fluids you need to sustain your energy level.

Give yourself a zing with one of these green smoothie choices,

Classic Green Smoothie

Place all ingredients in blender

Handful or two of Arugula, Kale, dandelions, spinach or all of the above

a handful of almonds (soaked 6-8 hours in h20)

a banana

cover 3/4 ingredients with milk alternative of choice (preferably made yourself, check below on how to make your own almond and sesame seed milk)

blend till fully liquid

enjoy!

Clean Green

Place all ingredients in blender

a handful of lettuce or spring mix

1 date (pitted and broken up)

1-2 TBS of Agave or honey

1/2 of a pear sliced

1/4-1/2 avocado

cover 3/4 ingredients with h20

For Almond Milk:

Soak a cup of raw almonds for 4-8 hours,

In a blender, at medium, then high speed, blend soaked almonds, 4-6 cups of water (use less water for thicker milk), and a pinch of sea salt (optional) until smooth. Pour through a strainer (or use a nut bag) to separate pulp. Pour liquid back in the the blender with sweetener of choice: suggestions: vanilla, honey, maple syrup, dates, brown rice syrup, agave or simply a banana.  add cinnamon or nutmeg if you’d like! (You can use the almond pulp for breads and cookies!)

Refrigerate. Will keep in fridge for 2-3 days.

Sesame Seed Milk

1 cup of sesame seeds

2 cups of water

Rinse the sesame seeds thoroughly. Soak the sesame seeds over night.

This will begin the sprouting process. This water can be used to make the milk. The water the seeds were soaked in is high in nutrients. If you wish to use fresh water, this is ok too.

Place seeds and water in a blender, liquefy. Strain the milk with your strainer of choice. Nut milk bags are available.

Add your additives and sweeteners and blend again. You can add vanilla extract/vanilla bean, agave, maple syrup, dates or carob. Get creative, there are many possibilities.

Sesame seeds are high incopper, magnesium, iron, maganese, zinc and B1.
